Bishop Gregory Palmer has announced the appointment of Rev. Ray Long to the First United Methodist Church of Marion, effective July 1, 2010.
Ray is married to Christy, a registered nurse, and they are the parents of three children: Jacob (23), Katelyn (13), and Hannah (11).
Ray's undergraduate work was done at McKendree College. His seminary studies were undertaken at Eden Theological Seminary. He received the degree of Doctor of Ministry from St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City.
Ray says that he is "passionate about congregational development and leadership." He enjoys golfing, fishing, basketball, and the St. Louis Cardinals.
And "no," he is not related to the present pastor!
Please keep Ray, Christy, and their family in your prayers as they prepare for their move to Marion.

We believe that God is calling us to be "an oasis of grace" in the heart of Marion, Illinois.
